The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton and more than a dozen village businesses are working together this week to raise money for the youth center.

Chowhound welcomes Newton Centre diner
Newton Centre’s Deluxe Station Diner received a nice write-up in Chowhound’s Greater Boston digest this week. Get it, digest?
Now we simply need to point chowhounds to all of the other excellent nosh in town. I’m partial to Jeff’s veggie burger at Sandwich Works (with pickles and peppers, of course). With all the snow on the ground, don’t New Englanders trend to eat more ice cream? Our first grader loves the cake batter ice cream at Wally’s Wicked Good Ice Cream & Treats in Auburndale.
What are your favorites?

Village center venues host holiday concerts

Newton Villages welcomes efforts of the Newton Cultural Alliance (NCA) to create collaborations between the city’s arts organizations and our local merchants.

Would you like your own Village Day?
| With help of the Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council, the Waban Improvement Society and Alderman John Rice, we are proud to announce the publication of our Guide to Planning a Village Day.
(Also, we want to say a big thanks to volunteers Sean Pears for writing the booklet and Betsy Blazar for designing it!) |
The Guide outlines all of the moving pieces that have to come together to make a street fair work in Newton. Although many of our villages have a Village Day or the equivalent, some still do not. We’re talking to you: Newtonville, West Newton, Auburndale…. What are you waiting for? And as you ponder the possibilities in your own village, don’t forget to check out Upper Falls’ Heritage Day this Sunday.
